Constantinos Clerides, Barrister-at-Law, Lincoln's Inn, joined the firm in 2016. His practice focuses on litigation having passed the bar in both England and Cyprus. He has shadowed Professor Christos Clerides in several cases before the District and Supreme Courts of Cyprus.
With an LLM in International Business & Commercial Law from King's College London he specialises in litigation arising from international and domestic commercial disputes including agency and distribution agreements, complex corporate disputes, jurisdictional battles, stay of court proceedings and petitions for anti-suit or anti-arbitration injunctions. He has also handled several other kinds of commercial injunctions including worldwide freezing orders and disclosure orders. Constantinos' experience in corporate litigation involves the representation of clients in company winding up and liquidation proceedings before the courts and disputes arising between shareholders and partnerships. Additionally he has handled civil torts cases regarding personal injury, medical negligence, libel and defamation.
Out of court, in corporate and commercial matters, he advises clients regarding partnership agreements, company incorporations and corporate structures, shareholders rights and director obligations, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance laws and regulations, compliance laws, trusts and investor protection.
As head of the corporate department, with a team of lawyers at his side, he provides support in drafting and reviewing complex commercial and business agreements in order to achieve objectives whilst minimizing risks. Agreements include trust deeds, joint venture agreements, agency and distribution agreements, shareholder agreements, partnership agreements, agreements relating to the sale of business, finance and security documents, intellectual property and general commercial contracts.
In 2020 he was one of the main speakers in a seminar that took place in Genéve relating to the legal framework for Cyprus Investments and Companies.
Constantinos has also recently completed HarvardLawShool2X: Contract Law: From Trust to Promise to Contract a course of study offered by HarvardX, an online learning initiative of Harvard University.
September 2020, he was admitted as an Associate of the Charter Institute of Arbitrators.
